Re: Balham: living near the railway tracks: how noisy?

Hey! Our house backs on to the rail track and there are frequent trains as well as freight trains at night. I've always lived near a railway except for a brief spell in Fulham with no trains but constant aeroplane noise.... It is noisy and, of course, would be quieter on a iroad that didn't back on ...

Morning Nanny/Childminder needed from January

Hi there,

I'm looking for someone to look after my 3 yr old boy 4 mornings a week (Monday-Thursday) from January. Could be 3 mornings.

Based SW12. Have a dog in case of allergies etc. Not many hours, but good ££ for the right person!

Thanks NVN,

Re: Make-up question

That could have been me asking the question post baby number 2. Another vote for Bobbi Brown. They have counters in Peter Jones or Liberty and will make you up and talk you through it.....fairly gently!
Good luck xx

Re: Husband having affair???

I hope you can get some answers as it doesn't sound like you're having a great time. It would seem there is definitely something going on. It may or may not be an affair, but you need to prepare yourself for the worst just in case....
Hope you sort things out for your family

Re: So why do people prefer SW6 to SW11??

To say SW6 is more expensive per se is not totally accurate. I'm sure you could get a terrace off North End Road for less than you could a terrace off Northcote....there probably is a north of the river bias, but I agree with you that the transport links and estates make it, for me, far less desirab...

Re: 1st world problem Advice please.

Lovely idea, but you can't expect to control something like that. Your son may never want to get married, or if he does he might want to get his own ring, or not bother with a ring, or get married to a 6ft 5 male who doesn't like emeralds. And you may have more children and they might end up fightin...

Re: Neal's Lodge - Private Enterprise of Community Asset

I echo the question above. What is this space currently being used for? Surely it's better for the building to be used than to just sit empty? And a nursery, private or state, will serve the community won't it? Or am I missing something? Highly probable!

Re: Rutherford House or Fircroft or Ravenstone

I would go with your instinct. You're doing the right thing by visiting all the schools in your area and deciding which best suits your child. I have a daughter in reception at Rutherford. She is learning, she is happy, safe and making good friendships with kids who are all local. We didn't consider...

Re: Getting involved with another parent's behaviour?

You witnessed about 5/10 minutes. There's no way you can establish a true picture of what has gone on. My family was walking into Balham last month when a random passer by decided my husband was an unfit parent. This is what had happened before the man had seen us. At home, we had given the kids bre...
