Knee consultant / surgeon

Postby waltzer » Thu May 04, 2023 7:24 pm

Could anyone recommend a good knee consultant. They are getting very creaky and I want to try and get ahead of any big damage. Happy to go into central London if necessary. Much appreciated,

Mr. Rhidian Thomas at Parkside in Wimbledon is excellent - he treated both my parents (both had knee replacements which are now, apparently, better than ever!)

Two girlfriends have recently had kneed surgery at The Schoen Clinic in central London.  I think it's a specialist orthopaedic hospital.  Both had their knees 'done' by Sam Rajaratnam and both are really pleased.

Sam Rajaratnam also works at The Horder Centre in Crowborough. As do Per Anderberg, Andrew Skyrme and Andrew Armitage - all fantastic knee surgeons/consultants. Their physiotherapists are also second to none. I know it’s a bit further afield but definitely worth the journey. Good luck!

Mr Mark Jones at The Lister or Chelsea and Westminster hospital. Excellent. Top sport injury surgeon also.

As a physio clinic we refer our clients to the following knee surgeons: Simon Thompson (at The Lister, or at Thompson Orthopaedics), Sam Rajaratnam (The Schoen Clinic), Jonathan Bell (Parkside).  All are very good and our clients are happy with them.

Have you thought about trying Osteopathy? Generally, a consultant is recommended when surgery is possibly needed. Normally it is best to try conservative treatment first and then if unsuccessful, it may be useful to seek the opinion of a consultant.

If you are interested in seeking preventative measures to avoid possible future knee surgery, please check out The Moving Body

This post has helped me find a consultant for my knee issues -thank you! Hope it's ok to ask a follow-up question.

Next for me is to find a good physio that has experience with complex knee stability and severe chondramalacia. The lady recommended to me is leaving the physio practice.

Any suggestions for local wandsworth putney wimbledon phýsios? No self or promotional recommendations please.

My son was recommended Balance Physio in Clapham by his knee surgeon Rhidian Thomas, recommended on this thread.

He has recovered very well. Good luck! https://www.balancephysio.com/

Hey there! I totally understand your concern about your knees getting creaky. It's essential to stay proactive about our health, especially when it comes to our joints. While I don't have specific recommendations for knee consultants in central London, I can relate to the importance of finding the right specialist. I recently had a similar experience with my shoulder and found a fantastic surgeon in Richardson, TX.Speaking of which, have you ever considered the complexity of the human shoulder? It's incredible how much mobility it provides, but it also means a higher risk of injury. If you're ever in need of a shoulder specialist, I highly recommend checking out this resource: https://www.kevinkrusemd.com/richardson-tx-shoulder-specialist/. It might offer some valuable insights for your knee consultation too!
