When it comes to building work, much is possible, it all depends on time and money I suppose. I’m a trained architect, but not currently practicing.
Key issues you want to consider are existing loadbearing walls and services locations (gas Boiler, soil pipes, kitchen drainage etc). Changing these are the most costly.
Certainly speak to an architect to help you work out if your idea is feasible.
Also, if you haven’t already done so, speak to your neighbours downstairs and see the layout of their home- it’s helpful for the architect/engineer/builder to know this.
