What’s on this Half Term
Last Updated on : 18th February 2014
Dear South West London Mum,
With the February half-term break swiftly coming around the corner, unless you have a holiday booked, we’re sure you are looking for things to keep your children entertained for at least an hour a day! We have a huge range of activities in the calendar which should cover all weather eventualities so if it’s still pouring with rain and flooding or if the sun is shining (do we even dare to hope), then there are plenty of things to choose from.
Battersea Park Zoo is putting on a range of things for the little ones starting with a celebration of Valentine’s Day, a Love Heart hunt and learning about hibernation.
There are all sorts of sport-based courses to choose from. For anyone wanting to brush up on their swimming skills (which let’s face it, may be worth doing with all this rain around!), the Aspire Centre has a fun swim and there are crash courses in swimming in both Tooting and at the Latchmere. AFC Wimbledon are running their popular holiday club in Wimbledon Park, there is rock-climbing, rhythmic gymnastics, soccer school, archery, multi-sports and even Bollywood Dance.
For those more creative, how about Family Pottery, Origami, Arts & Crafts, making story books, plastic bag flowers, or why not make your own Olympic Torch to wave over the next 2 weeks of winter sports coverage from Sochi?
Gambado have their regular holiday fun which includes balloon workshops, visits from Iggle Piggle, Gambado the Tiger and other characters as well as a Valentine’s Day activity; It’s A Kids Thing are celebrating half term with fairies and pirates; Wandsworth Hearing Support Service has aplayscheme and Red Riding Hood is coming to the Polka Theatre! There are art workshops, family drama and storytelling, the kids club at The Exhibit, a Romans & Celts workshop and bouncy castle fun.
Sammy Duder is open throughout the week so you can hide from the rain whilst painting pottery! Amanda’s Action Club will be running their classes as usual throughout and Eddie Catz has their lots of fun activities including cookery, sock puppet workshops,Dancetastic classes and photography fun.
Finally, if none of that takes your fancy, there is the Imagine Children’s Festival on Southbank and don’t forget all of the museums are open!
That’s it, have a wonderful week!
