ULEZ Expansion Announced

The expansion of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) from October 2021 has just been announced by the Mayor. From then on, it will cost £12.50 per day to drive into the zone with a non-compliant vehicle. The main issue, however, is that the southern boundary will be the South Circular -- meaning all ...

PRAM FOUND

Just found a pram abandoned in the middle of Elsynge Road, in the pouring rain, with nobody around. Looks like it may have been rifled through. Have taken it in for shelter. PM if it's yours.

Re: Parking Fine at Flip Out - WARNING

twomonkeys wrote:I think you now have to register your car at the reception.
I did! But apparently this only gives you two hours of parking, which is not a lot really -- quite easy to spend more time in there.

To their credit they replied to my email, and have promised to sort it out.

Parking Fine at Flip Out - WARNING

Having been to Flip Out Wandsworth many times in the past, I was very surprised that my last visit resulted in a nasty parking fine of £100 for "overstaying" in their car park. Apparently three hours at Flip Out, and spending a lot of money on entrance fees, in the cafe and for the play ma...

Re: Primary School National Offers Day 2018 London

what’s posted above about High View isn’t accurate. The governors made a deliberate decision to reduce the intake to 30 this year. Apologies for the incorrect information, this was based on the official Wandsworth primary school prospectus listing 60 places as available, and the allocation only sho...

Re: Primary School National Offers Day 2018 London

do you know how far down to they usually go in the waiting list to offer a place at Belleville (last year for example). Very far. There is a lot of movement, and even after the start of the term people on the waiting list get offered places. What's your position? Also, I would like to know what are...

Re: Great swimming classes for children

Another recommendation for Latchmere. Lukas is a gem. Agree 100%. All the teachers are good and my boys have made amazing progress, first with Lucas and now with Paul. They are running crash courses next week, the afternoons are taught by Lucas. There's a maximum of four children per class, and spa...

Re: Northcote Road summer fete - we need your help...!!!

the majority of the costs are related to the provision of stewards & security, and the associated costs of closing Northcote Road itself. The Christmas fair seems to work just fine without road closure -- it's obviously nicer to be able to casually stroll down a traffic-free road rather than ha...

Re: Honeywell School or local private prep?

Take Honeywell if you can get a space, and save yourself a fortune. It's a brilliant school, amazing teachers, and class size is not an issue -- quite the opposite, I'd say, a larger choice of friends probably suits a shy child.

Re: What musical instrument to learn?

Thank you everybody for your input, a lot of good advice and food for thought. We went to the Yamaha Music Store on Wardour St one Sunday, and I would highly recommend this to anybody who is trying to decide what their kids might like. There is a wide range of instruments, from pianos to drums and g...

Oh no, that's a shame. It was excellent value for money, and the staff were always friendly and helpful.

Re: What musical instrument to learn?

Thanks, tooposhtopush, this is very helpful (and entertaining!).

If they take after me I have to excellent drummers :D

I noticed that piano doesn't feature at all in your list -- is this something you wouldn't recommend as a first instrument?
