right so exactly as I thought - if you're at Belleville or Honeywell in a class of 30, there are about 3 kids on free school meals and about 27 living in £1.5m houses (or £1m flats). So it's not really that diverse is it!
I don't know why people think state schools are so diverse? As unless there's some fiddling going on with the catchment area, then everybody at Honeywell must live in a c. £1.5m house (or a flat worth the best part of £1m) within a few hundred meters of the school. So I'm not sure how diverse they c...
Even if some people think that schools with smaller class sizes, better facilities and better exam results may not be over "better" (ok each to their own,), the point is that nobody thinks state schools are better than private schools! So like I said before, if you can afford it, why would...
Look the basic summary is it costs loads. Always way more than you think. Who knew you can spend 300 quid on a tap? Builders are always annoying an unprofessional. The whole thing is a massive stress and I would not bother doing it again. Lots of quotes will start low, and then get bumped up for rid...
The existing building is ugly and more local housing will be welcomed.
Let's not be too NIMBY about it. It seems there's an automatic default view of blocking all new buildings around here. Let's not be afraid of making some changes!
Normally you check them in for free like a pram. Just smile and look hassled and as long as you have a kid with you you can normally check in anything you like for free
realistically you probably don't need a survey. If it's a Victorian house it's probably not about to fall down. And the reports tend to point out fairly obvious points that you knew anyway. And of course you're going to renovate it anyway. So maybe just don't bother (I didn't for those reasons)
Disagree with others! I'd save the cash and do as little as possible. Keep life simple! If the quotes are 180 it will be at least 200. If you sell the house at best you will get your money back but I doubt make a profit. And building work is always a massive hassle - annoying to do it and move out i...
