Re: Newton Prep or Hornsby House?

On the sibling policy at NP: you get sibling priority if the sibling joins the nursery (not reception), which I think works well for the school and parents (the sooner you can drop off all children at the same school, the better :)). On the question of 11+ vs 13+ ... as our children are small and we...

Re: Newton Prep or Hornsby House?

Both are great, you are very lucky :) Is it for a boy or girl? Newton prep does go to 13+, but that's usually more useful for boys... lots of girls prep start at 11, so even at newton prep lots of the girls move on at 11. For boys, the prep schools usually advise you to apply for 13+ entry if you ar...

Re: Queenstown rd reduction in trains - consultation

This is bad news!

I'll definitely object.

Do you know where to find more info about this? The link has a lot of info but difficult to make much sense of it, can't easily see Queenstown Rd mentioned anywhere.

Re: Newton Prep Apple Nursery

My son plays as much with girls and he does with boys in reception, and he did so since his first nursery. Other boys play mostly with boys. Depends on the child I guess. I personally cannot understand the point of single sex education at primary school age. :D But if he enjoys playing with boys and...

Re: Newton Prep Apple Nursery

Setting - I have heard it starts in Y2 and it's only for English and Maths. But if you want to know for sure, better ask the registrar. Of course you can't know how academic your child will be at 2.5 (or even at 4.5 for that matter!). But in your case, that shouldn't matter. If you take the NP nurse...

Re: Newton Prep Apple Nursery

My DS just started in September in reception, and we really love the school. It's a big bustling school with lots going on, so your LO will most likely find something to be motivated by :) Agree with genie, the aim is on academic achievement and literacy/Maths, however it's a broad church in terms o...

Re: Pick-up at Newton prep

Hi ladies,
I'll PM you with my email so we can keep in touch.
I think soon NP will send us the contact details of the other children starting in September.

Re: Hornsby or Eaton House Girls

They are both good schools, so you are very lucky :) We looked at both for our son recently (didn't get a place at HH and we didn't chose EH either), I would choose HH because: 1) it's coed. You know your daughter best and you will have a better feel if that's important for her or her sister For us,...

Re: How to get an au-pair or live-in nanny?

Fab_temp_nanny, thanks a lot for explaining it so well!

In light of your explanation, what I am actually looking for is a live-in nanny. :)

Does anyone have any recommendations for agencies for live-in nannies?

How to get an au-pair or live-in nanny?

Hello Mums, We will be looking for an au-pair or live-in nanny possibly from September. I have no idea where to start looking, any suggestions? We will need someone already in London so we can interview her face to face, and (ideally not but a must) someone who has some experience of looking after c...

Re: Which school to get in to St Paul / LCSG later?

Location is important indeed....most families look for secondary schools that are within a reasonable distance from their house, as most families also have younger siblings in local schools so can't easily move. However, I think the stats published by the private schools (Eaton house, Thomas's and s...

Re: Which school to get in to St Paul / LCSG later?

I have heard too of Bute House being of feeder for St Paul's. Getting in is very difficult though (I think they say it's by ballot), and then you'll have to think about moving somewhere close to the school. But you should definitely go visit Bute House and see how you like it. My friend was looking ...
