Looking for somewhere to rent/part-time lodger/house and pet sit...

I'm a mature divorced woman who works as a freelance journalist (I write about food, travel and wellness) and, as a result, finds the high rents in London almost impossible - and as I've always lived in beautiful homes I am keen to find somewhere that is appealing. I also travel quite a bit and so I...

workspace/studio/garage/workshop urgently needed!

I'm using my mum's account on here... my name's Sam and I'm 23. I've just done a course in carpentry and I want to start making my own furniture etc. I need to find a space locally so that I can bring my dog. It would need electricity as I will sometimes be using power tools. Please let me know if y...

Re: is there any face cream that actually works?

I am a journalist and write about beauty products with a leading expert so I get to try and test hundreds of them which is great. I do believe that you get what you pay for... good-quality products are effective. We love brands such as ILA, Omorovicza, balance me, Green People, The Organic Pharmacy,...

Re: Paying for childcare cash in hand - what's the view?

It's not confined to childcare: what about the tradesmen who are paid in cash so that the customer can avoid the VAT on top? This kind of thing is rife! And maybe, if this nanny does any other work, she should set herself up as self-employed/freelance and pay the tax/NI herself if she really wants t...

Re: Frustrating Managing Agents - any advice please?

I agree that it's wise to check out managing agents before buying. I've just bought a flat in Hastings to let and used the same agent to let it that I bought through. They are proving to be absolute nightmares and from what I've learned, I can't 'sack' them - I have to go through a complaints proced...

Re: Help for a mum with teenager skin

I've discovered a brand in Sussex, Rock Rose Beauty, which is about to be launched either as healing balm, moisturiser or facial oil... it contains rock rose (cistus) essential oil which is very well known for its healing properties. So far the response to the products has been amazing - it works su...

Re: What DO we want on Northcote Road???

Moxons rude? That amazes me. I have to say that the service in the Clapham South branch is superb. They are friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. I know that Robin Moxon cares very much about this so would be interested to hear more.

Re: Mugged on doorstep SW11, be careful!

House prices being affected? That made me laugh as it's surely not the most pressing aspect of this! The issue is government funding of police. The numbers of officers is constantly being reduced and while I sympathise with this story of course, there are other crimes they are focusing on that are m...

Re: Northcote Road - Cath Kidston Closing

Did I say that? I have friends in this area but generally find that SW11 has changed a lot - and not necessarily for the better. Maybe you should keep your nasty sniping comments to yourself. I don't actually live BTC and am happy that way!!

Re: Northcote Road - Cath Kidston Closing

There's one on the King's Road, so why on earth does Northcote Road need one too? It wouldn't take the yummy mummies long to get up there in the 4x4! This area used to be really vibrant... when I first moved here in 2001 Northcote Road was a good, lively mix of shops - many of them local, family-run...
