Re: (pointless) family inheritance

My mother always said, never fight with family over money, the lawyers are the only ones who benefit.
Its an age old story. Isn't it the plot of Dicken's Bleak House...

Re: After school nanny eating our food

I also think it is unfair for you to assume she knew there wasn't enough food for her and your kids. Different children have vastly different appetites, and different appetites month to month, year to year. She probably thought it didn't look very much, but then assumed that maybe your kids didn't h...

Re: Sister inherited life changing amount of money but angry my parents want to give me more of their inheritance

"Unlike her relationship with her own friends and her husband, your sister's relationship with her godmother was not of her making, but something engineered by your parents when she was a baby." We don't know this. I had a very close relationship with my godmother, she took me to the opera...

Re: Sister inherited life changing amount of money but angry my parents want to give me more of their inheritance

I suspect your sisters reaction is not about the inheritance from your parents but the way you have all made her feel for inheriting the money. We Brits have strange hang ups about money. It sounds like you are all shocked by the situation and jealous of her. She is feeling un loved, and now she fee...

Re: Crossrail 2 running under property

Years ago my parents were very keen to buy at a house in Lebanon gardens. My father who is a civil engineer happened to go for an interview somewhere and saw the plans to turn the south circular into a 3 lane motorway (I think it was going to be the M15 (the M25 was the middle sized of 3 proposed co...

Re: in laws offering to pay for son not daughter schools fees

Working mum with 2kids - I never get the argument that you shouldn't educate women because they might end up as stay at home mothers. Even if you were a misogynist, surely having a well educated stay at home mother will stimulate and challenge their children (and sons) intellectually and be able to ...

Belleville Wiz Bilingual class

Hi all, We are considering accepting an offer of a place in the bilingual class at Belleville Wiz. I was hoping to hear from current parents there. I have heard bad things about it 3-4 years ago before it was taken over by Belleville, but I'm interested in what it is like now. - what is the type of ...

Re: Consultation now underway on plans to introduce five ‘School Streets’ in Wandsworth

This is a lovely idea, but why can't they address basic school safety first. the yellow zig-zags and railings are in the wrong place at Hotham primary school and have been wrong for 6 or 7 years. The children come out of a gate with no safety barrier between lots of parked cars. Its a miracle there ...

Re: Can't keep up with extravagant fortieth parties

Yes totally agree with previous posters. Remember, often when people have lots of money they are time poor. They might even prefer to have done a party at home but don't have the time to organise it, so it is easier to go with a venue, caterers, organisers... Please don't feel like you don't belong,...

Re: So we're loosing Wandsworth's Homebase AND B&Q

I'm not sure if I'm more upset about the closing of B&Q or the casual racism.
Is it still under risk. Nothing has happened yet.

Re: child to walk to school on their own?

Actually my sister's son's primary school in Fulham prefers them to walk on their own as they ar more responsible and aware. It is when they are with a friend that they are more likely to get distracted and do silly things! Obviously depends on the children, but interesting that they have a differen...

Re: Looking for a room to rent

Hi, we have a room to rent in Wandsworth, not sure where you are, but we are near Southside.
The room is on market for £525, but if he can commit to a year, I'd be happy to let him have it for £500. See link below:

Re: Footy team

Broomwood seems a nice club, parent run so cheaper than most but very over subscribed, I put my boys down, about when my older son was 7 or 8 (he's now 10) but never got offered a place. I did get offered one for his younger brother this year but he now has a club so didn't accept it. So try but loo...

Re: Fixtures and fittings - seller wants to take it all! (even a tree!)

I know of one seller coming back 2 weeks after the sale to remove the metal house number from the door!

Our sellers were so sweet they left children's toys in the garden because we had a baby (including a sandpit and a paddling pool)
