I tend to be wary of restaurant bars for meeting friends...
No names no pack drill but some places, with a bar attached to the restaurant, seem not to want people to come in and not sit at a table for a meal.
They seem to only want those waiting for their table to be ready to use the bar(including at least one establishment listed here) and dislike "casual trade".
One of the ways they show this is to add a 12.5% service charge (and sometimes a stonking 15% ) to the price of your drink ...even when the only "service" they have given you is pour your drink into a glass and take your money. Beers for instance are much more expensive than in a pub even before they have added "service" to your bill.
