Hello. I need some help please! I am moving into balham in April and need to find a nursery school that has a great provision for children with special needs within sw17, sw11 or sw12. My daughter is 2 (just turned 2) and so I am looking at both maintained and non maintained. Any suggestions or advice on ones to make note of and go visit would be great. Thank you!!

Hello

Sorry I don't know of any nurseries but I do know of the Early Years Centre in SW17 0LA.

According to their website

The Early Years is a one-stop service offering a team approach in providing help for young children with disabilities and their families. It welcomes young children (eight years or under) who are experiencing complex delays or difficulties in their development or who have a specific disability. The Centre offers a multi-disciplinary and inter-agency approach and services include assessment, therapy, advice, family support and contact with other parents.

The aim is to ensure that all young disabled children in Wandsworth have the chance to fulfil their potential. The Centre ensures that each family is offered a co-ordinated approach that will best meet the needs of the child and family. Services available at the Centre include:

Centre-based or outreach Multi-disciplinary Assessment
Clinical Psychology
Early Years Education
Educational Psychology
EarlyBird and EarlyBird Plus programmes for parents of children on the autistic spectrum
Occupational Therapy
Portage
Paediatric Assessment & Advice
Social Work/Case Management
Specialist Speech Therapy

It might be worthwhile popping in, it could be useful to you and they could advise of local Nurseries?

hi- i have just joined this forum- my daughter has special needs too and is just one- we live in Lambeth and talked to our inclusion officer who was able to recommend nurseries she's worked with - i looked at the Weir Link nursery yesterday- it's in sw12 and was really impressed with the attitude of the staff there- it's a mainstream nursery affiliated to a children's centre- they really listened to me and spoke to our speech therapist who came with me- their ofsted report is excellent too. Also Oak tree nursery in streatham is supposed to be good ( too far for me) and has been mentioned by a few people i've spoken to.
good luck
