Nanny hunt – alleged childcare issue. Wandsworth police warning on forced marriage. Funfair on Wandsworth Common.

Dear NappyValleyNetter,

“So kids,” asked Mr NVN, “any idea what you want to do when you grow up?”

We were in the middle of a family breakfast and Mr NVN was in one of his condescending ‘development coach’ modes. This usually involved asking the children life-plan style questions and, in the process, sounding like a low-rent Tony Robbins.

To my surprise my daughter embraced this with enthusiasm, “I SO do,” she said grabbing her phone, “me and my friends were just talking about this and we wrote them down!”

“Excellent,” replied my husband, whilst me shooting a told-you-so-look, “let’s hear those milestones!”

My daughter started reading from the screen…

“Steal a boat, get a tattoo, spend a night in prison,” she paused, “I don’t get that last one but Amy says it to do with ‘Orange is the New Black'”, before finishing with, “and the biggie HAS to be to win Celebrity Love Island.”

Mr NVN’s jaw was on the table whilst my daughter beamed like she’d just won big on Prize Day before proclaiming, “beat THAT bucket list!”
