Repointing

Postby Newtooter » Thu Oct 19, 2017 9:14 am

Hi all,

As I've departed my house on this lovely rainy Thursday morning, I've noticed that the few crumbling bricks by the front door have become a damp patch about 1m by 1m wide.

I suspect the front of the house might need repointing. Has anybody had this happen to them? Do you have to do the whole house or can just the damaged bits be done? Any idea of cost?

Thanks all

well I tried to get a quote and the guy never came back to me...helpful...

I think it's actually quite a lot like 5 grand. But like all these things it depends on so much...

Would be interested to hear how you get on

Hi

We recently got our house repointed - a standard Victorian end of terrace.

Front of house cost approx £2500 including cleaning of brickwork
Side cost £5000k - needed a lot more scaffolding, no windows so much bigger area.

The guys we used did a great job for us but a terrible job for a friend so won't recommend them here.

It's expensive but worth it to stop the damp. You can get window paintwork done at same time to make good use of scaffolding costs. And the house looks brand new : )
