Battersea Handyman/Building Handyman Team

Postby aa_mummy » Mon Jan 16, 2012 4:28 pm

I just want to give a big public thank you to the Building Handyman team on Webbs road.

The week before Christmas the lock on my front door gave up the ghost and I could not get in or out. We managed to get in through the back door through the help of builders next door, but had to climb out of the bay window for access.

As the Building Handyman team are at the top of the road I called them first to see if they had anyone available. The wonderful lady who answered the phone put so much effort into helping me I was amazed. She called all the team but everyone was either too far away or in the middle of something and then called SDS but they couldn't help so she then called Banham in SW8 on my behalf. We had the lock on the door fixed that evening.

I can't give enough thanks or praise. She completely went out of her way to help me. Now that's customer service!!!

Thank you!!!

I have to agree with magnificentseven. We have used them for some minor decoration work, and the guy who turned up was very nice and did a very good job.

However we have asked them to quote for us for larger projects on two separate occasions. For the first quote the guy (can't remember his name) missed the first appointment we'd arranged but we re-arranged another - I can't remember his excuse. Then about 18 months later we contacted them to provide another quote and he again missed the appointment. This time we didn't bother to rearrange.

All I can say, is that they must be doing very well for themselves if that's how they treat potential new business.

I was tailgated so badly by one of their drivers who thought I was going too slowly ( ie at speed limit in 20mph zone) that I won't use them on principle.

We have always used Building Handyman for all our works from small to bigger things. They have always been timely, tidy and done what they said they would. We were always kept in the loop if things needed to change budget wise - would always recommend them......

We had a terrible experience with them.
They did general renovation works on our house. I used them as the quote was so thorough but the guy that quoted (tom) had no idea about the works going on when they were happening and we have, in the subsequent 5 years, had awful problems with almost all the work and have had to re-do it.
Not only that but the work was so well 'quoted' that anything slightly extra was extortionate and we were in no position to source elsewhere. Would never use again!!!

We are in dispute with them after they totally ballsed up a fairly large job. They trade on being able to do everything but in reality are jack of all trades, masters of none. They completely messed up our new wood floor and the independent bloke they sent to try and rectify things (he didn't) told me he'd seen a number of floors they'd generated problems with. Their staff turnover is quite high and they sent various general builder types to do more specialist work (carpentry e.g.) with the result that the work was of poor quality. The project manager was all cheery charm and seemed a genuinely nice guy, but he himself admitted that the business has expanded v rapidly and they are trying to juggle too many jobs. They also ended up charging us a lot more than they quoted. I would not recommend using them for anything more than a routine, small job.

I've always used them if I have a last minute plumbing or electric emergency as they can get someone out quickly. For the bigger jobs, I'd go elsewhere. I do see them as An Hour At A Time company to be used when all of my other contacts aren't available and the few times I've used the. I've had no problems. (Sound like I'm describing a call girl, sorry!)

Have just used Building & Handyman to do our kitchen. It was fantastic. The guys we had were polite and considerate. The job was excellent. We have used them in the past and I would definitely keep using them. A huge thumbs up from me.

I have just used this company for the first time and found it a very efficient and attentive service. They arrived when they said they would and carried out the work with ease.

Why are there people posting to say this company are great who have not recommended anything or anyone else? Isn't it a bit strange?? Just an observation!

Dear LP

Thanks for your post and observation. Historically BH has not undertaken social media. We have recently started a campaign and actively invited clients to post on line to relay their experience. As a local company we have directed clients towards Nappy Valley amongst other forums for this purpose. The business is built on trust. My observation looking at the review is one recent customer has posted for the first time following our works. I am surprised you find this strange.

Kind regards

Building & Handyman Team

Before deciding who to use for our bathroom and kitchen renovation we spoke to 4 different builders. Richard, from Building and Handyman was the only builder who responded to our requirements clearly, accurately and in good time. His communication prior to starting the job was excellent as we decided to make a few scope changes. Each time he gave us a revised quote with the amended scope clearly identified.

Once he got working on the project his communication was excellent with what he was working on and he would always ask if there was something he needed our opinion on, usually cosmetic things. Their standard of work was excellent and we're really pleased with our new bathroom and kitchen. I would highly recommend Building and Handyman to anyone looking for similar work.
