Secondary Schools for Aspergers boy - any advice please

Postby marysmungo » Mon Apr 28, 2014 12:41 pm

My 9 year old son who has aspergers is currently at a mainstream state school under School Action Plus. I'm beginning to have concerns about where he should go next and was hoping that someone might be able to give me some advice if they have been in this position.
Without a statement he wont get a funded place at a specialist school and because of the intervention with School Action Plus his levels are low but not low enough for him to be considered for a statement. But they are only not low enough because he has a TA with him during literacy & numeracy. Does SAP continue through to secondary school?
Any ideas?

HI Marysmungo,

We are working with a boy with ASD (through private tuition) who is at Bolingbroke Academy. We have been impressed with the staff support and collaboration; very receptive to advice and accommodating of any changes we have suggested. They have seen a great improvement in motivation and achievement.

I have just been looking at their website where they have details of their SAP provision etc http://www.arkbolingbrokeacademy.org/Sp ... onal-Needs

Good luck!
