Royal Academy of Dance - Dance Classes for Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Postby EmmaRADiate » Mon Dec 11, 2017 9:37 pm

We are pleased to announce that the RADiate project; led by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), are starting after school dance classes for children aged 4-11 (who are at Primary school).

The RADiate project delivers dance classes to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities including; autism, moderate to severe and complex learning difficulties, behavioural, emotional and social difficulties as well as those who are non-verbal.

Classes are fun and creative and offer children an alternative, non-verbal way to express themselves and their individuality. Led by one of our specialist dance teachers we work in partnership with schools and parents to support each child and ensure they can progress at their own pace in a supportive and motivational environment. Classes develop a child's personal strengths, boost their self-esteem and encourage relaxation and fun.

Our after school classes will allow children to mix with those from different schools, make new friends and practice and develop their social skills in a new environment. Students who are studying on the Royal Academy of Dance's teaching degree programme help support children in the class which also helps to facilitate children's independence.
