Football class for a 5 year old?

Postby balhammother » Wed Nov 15, 2017 11:29 am

My son (just 5) has never really played much football and is a creative/sensitive type, but I think he might enjoy the right kind of football class - nurturing and not too rough/overwhelming!

Has anyone got any recommendations for a class that might be suitable?

Thanks :)

At Open Air Fit we run a very popular drop-in football session on a Saturday morning 10:30-11:30 and Mel Capleton who is a former professional player is amazing with the children and is great with those new to football.

We're on Wandsworth Common in the Dog Free Zone by the Skylark Cafe and cost is £10 per child.

Hi Balhammother

You could try Battersea Park All Weather Pitch (next to main playground) every Friday 4.30-5.45pm (during term time only). Bedhead run 'fun' football sessions for boys and girls aged 3-13yrs.
They are separated into approx. age groups. The first session in free, thereafter £3 per session pay as you go so no commitment (also get loyalty card so every 6th (I think) lesson is free. It's not rough and a nice bunch of staff. See:

We run a nice small drop in group for 4+ year olds at Burntwood School on a Saturday morning (9.45-11.15). The good thing about a smaller number is that everyone can get involved and get plenty of practice with a ball, both in drills and in games. The location is great, nice and secure, and less overwhelming than the commons.

Would be great to see you and your LO on Saturday! We are running for three more weeks - rain or shine!
