These are best and worst secondary schools in Wandsworth for pupil progress.

''New government figures show the progress made by secondary school pupils in Wandsworth.

This “Progress 8” score reflects the difference between the results SATs taken in year nine and results from GCSEs and other key stage four qualifications.

It takes into account up to eight qualifications, with greater weight placed on English and maths results because of their importance.

Harris Academy Battersea in Battersea Park Road, which is also one of Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s flagship schools for success, achieved the highest Progress 8 score at 1.49 and has seen 90 percent – or 122 of 135 – of its 2015 leavers either stay in education or enter employment.''

what a lot of gobbledygook. A typical .gov list of meaningless statistics.
I'm not knocking any school mentioned, but I lets stick to how many GCSE A & A*s (8 &9) a school achieves.
keep it simple.

@rootinfortoorin
Schools that academically select their pupils will get lots of A/A* but this tells you nothing, it merely confirms their intake.
For example Graveney selects 70 pupils and these pupils should all get A* in everything and would achieve these results almost regardless of the school they attend.
If you want to see how good a selective school is you should take away the pupils selected and then look at their results - difficult to achieve but possible.
The DOE stats are trying to do this or at least give some in sight.

A Level results and university aren't the be all and end all to success and progress. In fact many, including myself, left university completely clueless and lacking in work skills.

It's skills, confidence and leaving school with a sense of direction and purpose that matters. Other European countries recognize this much better than we do. Being academic isnt for everyone and being academic doesnt guarantee success and happiness.
