Glynn Barton - activities and resto recommendations

Postby nightmonkey » Mon Sep 04, 2017 4:26 pm

Hi, for those of you who have been to Glynn Barton Cottages, can you recommend any activities/restaurants? We will have three children under three (all of who nap at lunch time), so want to make life as simple as possible for ourselves. Looks like many of the recommended restaurants/beaches are half an hour away. Is there anywhere nice to eat in Bodmin itself? Any activities you recommend? We don't mind doing whole day trips, but our youngest doesn't sleep in the buggy and tbh nap time is the only down time we get, so we like being home most days around that time. Thanks!

We totally loved Glynn Barton and I was always waxing lyrical on here about it whenever anyone asked !!!

So you have made a great choice. There are so many wonderful things to do on site, you are spoiled for choice.

Still - I had lunchtime napping littlies so I can recommend:

- Llanhydrock National Trust https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/lanhydrock. all the usual national trust stuff and only about 10 mins from GBC.

- Cardingham Woods https://www.forestry.gov.uk/cardinham lovely easy trails for buggy and toddling. Playarea. Safe streams to paddle in. Cafe with cream teas! about five mins from GBC.

- Lappa Valley Steam Railway http://www.lappavalley.co.uk/ a little bit further down south (half an hour) but lovely for pre-schoolers.

- we didn't find anywhere to eat in Bodmin itself (but perhaps there are some hidden gems we missed), but we got a babysitter at GB and headed south to https://www.foweyhallhotel.co.uk/restaurant

and also

- we found the best beach was Polkerris (loos, cafe/ice creams, sandy beach, parking nearby, pub and pizza also. https://polkerrisbeach.com/

Have a lovely time! :-)
