Italian classes for all kids from age 3-4 onwards

Postby gemima » Thu Mar 09, 2017 5:07 pm

Hello, these classes are cost efficient and due to start this Autumn in Wandsworth. Sorry I can't enclose the proper pamphlet. Please can you spread the word. Many of us have been waiting for this for ages!
Many thanks in advance.

The Italian Ministry aims at promoting the teaching of Italian in the United Kingdom as a means of spreading the Italian culture and language.
Our programme is well established and has been running for many decades in the form of extra-curricular courses, primarily for students of Italian origin but open to individuals of any nationality.
Our courses are run both by experienced and qualified full time teachers selected for this purpose in Italy by the Italian Ministry to teach abroad and by local teachers recruited in Great Britain by our partner organization COASIT.
COASIT is a nonprofit organization, financially supported by the Italian Ministry.
We offer courses for primary or secondary school students until GCSE, AS and Alevel exams.

Our classes take place all over London.

These classes have been going for years in Wandsworth. My child attended the classes held at Belleville before they moved them to Tooting. We stopped going because the level of teaching was not great and we realized that we were wasting our time. The teacher we had was way more focused on the children that could already speak a good level of Italian the rest were left to their own device.Hopefully things have improved since.

I made exactly this point on this site earlier this year and got a lot of abuse over it. There is a real problem in London where there are so many children with a French/German/Italian native speaker parent or parents whose are being raised bilingually where all of the language teaching/cultural outreach from the relevant countries' consultates/British Council equivalents is focused on those billingually-raised children and nothing is offered for other children whose parents would like them to learn a European foreign language from early primary school stage.

Hi there,

Where are you based please? Do you do classes of 3-4 kids? My daughter is 3.5 and needs to learn Italian from scratch.

The Italian consulate classes start from age 5 onwards but she would need to be a bit competent before joining that class anyhow.

Kind regards

Hi Jemima,
I'm based in SW12 and can do either one to one lessons or small groups.
I find that at that age they learn quite quickly.

Please PM me if interested and we can talk.
Regards

Thanks. I think my daughter would only be interested in a group scenario at this stage.
