Re: How places were allocated for Wandsworth primary schools 2024

A lot of it is as you say the "surge" in primary schools pupils is over and the birth rate is lower now.  So there is over capacity in a lot of schools.  A couple of primaries have already closed/planned closure in Wandsworth.

Re: Would you pay for primary or secondary education if you can't do both

Agree with QED2. A large part is removing yourself from groups of parents who are wealthy and all the talk is about private schools. I have friends who think I am bananas for sending my kids to state schools because “no one round here does that” (other area of London and of course people do, just no...

Re: fussy eater - help!

Muddyboots has some great suggestions above, particularly not stressing about it which will compound the issue.  Just one comment on the child eating when it is hungry - this may be the case for many neurotypical children, mine are neurodivergent and literally just will not eat even if starving if t...

Re: In-laws never off to have the children

You can't make them "step up" I am afraid.  I would just cut your losses and accept it for what it is without expecting anything from them.  My inlaws are the same - I was quite surprised as well but to be honest we tried and then haven't bothered asking since. Some grandparents are very h...

Skiing with a SEN child/private ski lessons for children

I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for ski schools ideally in the Alps that are good with SEN children.  My child has ASD/ADHD/dyspraxia - can already ski blue and red runs.  Ideally need private tuition and somewhere with minimal queuing.

Re: Should we pay son not to work so he can study for A levels?

My parents did this for me when I was a teenager. However the difference was I already had a Saturday job. I would go out Friday evening clubbing (this was the north in the 90s) then work all day Sat. When I was doing my GCSEs my parents paid me to stop the job for a few weeks (but didn’t seem to ha...

Re: Yr 6 boy adhd

Mamablu 1. Check your son's EHCP.  You need to complain if the school are not implementing what they are supposed to and sending the LSA elsewhere.  Check IPSEA resources if you want to know how to enforce the provisions.  You call an emergency annual review to revisit your son's provision if it is ...

Re: Yr 6 boy adhd

MuddyBoots, just one thing to add.  I am sorry to hear your child had been hurt.  SEN children usually need handling in specific ways so traditional "telling off" usually just doesn't work.  I would say though that most SEN children are absolutely delightful and wouldn't hurt a fly.  Those...

Re: Swimming teacher for ADHD kid

We use south west swimming school at Emanuel pool.  Have also been with them at Burntwood school pool.  My son has ADHD amongst other SEN.  He has a private class (they do a discount for SEN 1:1) and they've been super accommodating, moving us teachers, pools etc to fit with what he needs.  Its not ...
