Re: Fake grass

We have fake grass and I regret it. What with dog pee/poo, fox pee/poo and neighbours cat pee/poo, I find it really unhygienic no matter how quickly I pick up the poo or wash it with one of those outdoor wet vacuums. In the summer I’m having it pulled up and I’m going to pave it all instead so I can...

Re: Emanuel or Ibstock?

I completely agree with waltzer. A few years ago we had the same decision to make and with Emanuel being walking distance, we went for that. The only exception I think would be if your daughter has a passion or flair for languages. I think Ibstock are trying to set themselves apart on this, they put...

Re: please make cables running from houses to vehicles safe for pedestrians

That WBC link that Goldhawk posted above has the information you are looking for: Use of cables Running a cable across the pavement to your car may present a hazard or an obstruction to other street users and is not permitted under the Highways Act 1980. You would be liable in the event of any incid...

Re: Aupair / housekeeper with settled status available

I agree, it’s the 10+ that’s letting you down. Many parents don’t need help with that age group especially as so many of us can now wfh as kids that age are quite self-sufficient for a couple of hours and don’t need taking to and from school.

Re: Aupair / housekeeper with settled status available

We are past the au pair stage now but just wanted to say I love your post, you sound hilarious! I would have snapped you up in a heartbeat 5 years ago! Good luck with your search although I’m sure you won’t need it, au pairs with settled status are like hens teeth so I’m sure you’ll be with your new...

Re: Open day etiquette - advice please

Definitely with the child in question, there are usually activities they can get involved with, in the science labs for example.

You nearly always have to book for the popular independent schools in the area, not sure re the state ones.

Re: Rough sleepers hub and hostel opposite Battersea Arts Centre, Lavender Hill

I find most of these posts on this thread so upsetting and depressing to read. These are homeless people in need of an emergency roof over their head. These people are already here but they have nowhere to go in this borough. You pass them every day outside Co-Op, M&S, Asda, Waitrose. I live rou...

Re: Stepping in as class rep to sort a party 'situation' is this my role?

Your only role as a class rep is to be the link between the school and the class parents. So to pass messages between the class teacher and the parent body. Not to manage parent to parent conflict.

Re: Cockapoo or cavapoo

I have a 9 year old Cavapoo and would say that a cockapoo and Cavapoo have very similar traits. They are both lively, energetic dogs so if you are only choosing between those 2 it doesn’t make a lot of difference except the size as cockapoos are generally larger. If you want a lazy, laid back dog th...

Re: Looking for Emanuel School Tutors

From memory, the first term of year 7 at Emanuel is quite tame. It’s getting them settled, going over year 6 topics etc. the hardest part is getting used to the school, rushing around the site to get to your classes on time. But educationally, it’s not strenuous and a lot of year 6 recap.

Re: massive £20/13% increase in Spencer Cricket fees for 2022

I think it’s fantastic value for money.
It’s not just the training sessions, my kids have Sunday matches and festivals all through the summer also. We love Spencer Cricket.

Re: Where are the decent playgrounds in Wandsworth and Tooting?

Hi, I can’t anything that hasn’t already been recommended but interested in your suggestions of parks you used to frequent. What are your recommendations? Always keen to try out new places with my slightly older kids and the dog on the weekends as especially as following lockdowns we are now complet...

Re: neice to join extended family holiday to isolate, madness!

She will need to quarantine if she was travelling on her own without vaccinated family members. I don’t thinks that’s correct. Can’t see anything on the .gov website that says 17 and under need to be accompanied by fully vaccinated adult. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/quarantine-free-travel-to...

Re: neice to join extended family holiday to isolate, madness!

But if she is under 18 then she doesn’t need to quarantine or isolate. She will need to do a test up to 72 hours before she leaves Majorca (lateral flow is fine but PCR advised) then a test on day 2 after she comes home. If both tests are negative then she doesn’t need to do anything else and also d...
