Re: Food waste collections for all in Wandsworth

@Climateaware I’m with you! I can’t believe the reaction to this! We’ve had food waste bins in Lambeth for years and they cause no issue at all. Foxes cannot get into them as the locking mechanism is very secure. We bought a food caddy from John Lewis made by Joseph Joseph that you can stick to the ...

Re: Cost of After School Clubs/ HolidayCamps

Amazing. It’s a lovely, lovely school. So supportive, caring and fun. Our children love it there - they tell us regularly how much they love school. We are so pleased we chose Hornsby.

Re: Cost of After School Clubs/ HolidayCamps

There is wraparound care at Hornsby. My children are there but we don’t use it currently so can’t advise on costs but why don’t you drop the school and email and they will be able to outline the costs for each club per term: www.hornsbyhouse.org.uk/co-curriculum/b ... ool-clubs/

Re: Action plan to improve road safety for children attending schools in Balham

Totally agree. The crossings are very badly needed and will make such a big difference to the safety of the many hundreds of children that have to cross those roads. The other two measures I’m not sure are such a great idea but let’s see how they work out. With two schools in that area, it should be...

Re: Greece- recommendations

Try Simpson’s Travel. We’ve been going to Greece with them for the last few years and they’re a great, small family run company with lovely villas and always have really helpful reps on the ground. We’ve been to Lefkada the last couple of years which is lovely and you can get a ferry to Kefalonia if...

Re: Double buggy recommendations

When I had a 2 year old and a newborn I had an Uppababy Vista which gave me lots of flexibility in terms of setup. In the end though, I mostly just used it as a single buggy with a buggy board attached for the older child and that was a lot easier to manoeuvre than a double buggy.

Re: Wandsworth council first local council in country to issue speeding fines for drivers breaching 20mph limits

So glad someone has pointed this out. It’s unbelievable that anyone would put the fact that they “find it hard to drive at 20” above the safety of pedestrians and other more vulnerable road users, and the need to reduce air pollution. The more roads that have a 20mph limit the better as it will mean...

Re: Nursery/Pre School Recommendations - Balham/Streatham

Goldhawk beat me to it! 345 Balham is fantastic, I have one child currently there and another who attended before starting school having moved to 345 after a bad experience at another local nursery. I can’t praise them enough for their kindness, professionalism and the fun, varied curriculum they of...

Re: Recommend an airport minicab service that doesn't make you wait hours for pickup? Uber on the spot?

We have always pre-booked with Addison Lee but the last couple of times we were travelling back from Heathrow there were TfL strikes and AL wouldn’t take pre-bookings. We decided to chance it with Uber, ordered one as soon as we picked up our luggage and both times the car was in the taxi area befor...

Re: Colette closing on Northcote Road

Totally agree - COOK or White Company would be brilliant. The Mamahood did brilliantly when they had their pop up shop on Northcote Rd. Doubt they could afford the rent though.
As someone else said - no more fancy optometrists needed! Why are there so many of them in the area?!

Re: Uppa Baby Vista on tube/trains

I have a Vista and it was way too heavy and cumbersome to get around as a double on and off buses - there’s no way I’d have attempted it on the tube! A much better option is to use it as a single with a buggy board for the older child. If you think you’ll be using the tube a lot then I’d definitely ...

Re: Night out for mums

Try Hannah on Lavender Hill. It’s a wine bar where you each top up a card with cash and help yourself to wines from the machines. It means you can all choose what and how much you drink and they do lovely small sharing plates for food. Their sister bar Heidi in Balham is also great for mums’ nights ...
