Re: Separation of Stomach Muscles after birth - Physio rec?

I highly recommend Christien Bird at White Hart Clinic in Barnes. She wil work with you to repair your separation as well as any pelvic floor issues. If you book a postnatal MOT with her, she will give you a full assessment of both and work from there.

Nanny with own kids going rate

How much per hour would you expect to pay a self-employed nanny who brings her own children to work (one school aged, one pre-school)?

Re: Scam Warning!! Stuck at home with no electricity

Fortunately I've only read about this - but sounds like it's been going for quite a while. It's in the opening chapter I think of Zadie Smith's NW.

Re: What to give a childminder for Christmas?

I am a childminder. The best present I have been given for Christmas (not this year unfortunately!) was £50 cash. But that is unusual - I usually get something like a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates, some smellies etc.

Re: Buffet brunch with toddler: recommendations?

As the parent of the fussiest six year old ever, I totally feel your frustration. Although eating out can provide respite from the thankless cooking (when I'm really feeling at my wits end a pizza out really takes the pressure off everyone), I would not recommend more choice as the solution to a fus...

Re: Diastasis recti-Separated abdominal muscles-help!

Hello After my second pregnancy I went to a very renowned and popular pilates teacher who runs specialist pregnancy and postnatal classes. I had done her pregnancy pilates, and trusted her reputation and knowledge. I advised her that I had a diastasis recti and she said she would bear this in mind. ...

Re: Petition - compulsory Paediatric First Aid!!!

Anyone who is not Ofsted registered is not legally allowed to be called a childminder. I do not want to detract from the important message of this thread BUT as a childminder I feel it necessary like Helen to point out that if you leave your child with a childminder you should ask them to confirm th...

Re: Mother-in-law not well, should I allow my son to visit?

My grandmother died of cancer - it must have been when I was 4. My earliest memory is of being with her in a room overlooking a beautiful outdoor scene (presumably this was a hospice) and her being sick through her nose into a kidney shaped bowl. I remember asking about how someone could be sick thr...

Re: Husband snoring every night

For your own sanity until this is sorted try earplugs. I use foam earplugs made by Quies (from the chemist), and I will still be woken by my children crying in the other room and would definitely hear my alarm go off, but they dull the snoring enough to make it possible to get off to sleep. For year...

Re: Mother claims child cruelty in school place row

The woman is a nutter. A couple of years ago she was in our local paper claiming that John Lewis had ruined her daughter's Christmas by sending the wrong item to her. So apparently when her daughter opened the parcel under the Christmas tree, the whole family gasped in shock as the doll she had aske...

Re: Has anyone filled out tax return on maternity leave?

I will also have to do this but my maternity leave cut across two tax years. You really don't need to pay an accountant if you don't have much in the way of income and outgoings - it's pretty foolproof to do a simple online return. I expect you probably declare your MA as part of your tax return. To...

Re: How do you deal with another mum who blanks you?

Some people don't want to talk to me. They have their reasons and it is none of my business what these are. I see it as their problem not mine. I find I am a lot happier if I just forget about them and concentrate on the people who do want to talk to me. There are usually more of the latter. If I fo...

How much for a decent holiday

We're lucky to have grandparents abroad so all our holidays with kids so far have been staying with family to keep costs down. Next year we need a decent holiday of our own but as I haven't done one before I'm not sure how much money to set aside. We're looking at 2 weeks in school holidays ideally ...

Re: Nanny got drunk - should I be worried?

Did you or your husband or family welcome her to help herself to drinks at any time? Did you set any ground rules? Although I think it's unprofessional of her to drink alcohol, it can be hard for some people to control themselves if they are given one or two drinks. These people are usually perfectl...
