Re: SW11 car fines from a local cyclist's camera

Some simple facts to counter some of the anecdotes in earlier posts. From the last time accurate figures are available in 2016   Research shows that cyclists are perfectly able to mix harmoniously with pedestrians and, contrary to popular belief, are not a major danger to them.  Even though, unlik...

Re: Did you receive a present for giving birth?

@julien I bet when she opened the fridge freezer......that her face lit up. Presents for giving birth.....crazy......you got a baby.   Is that not enough ? This is like the mums on here expecting their husband to get them Mother’s Day gifts. Very few real world perspectives - a bit self centred imho.

Re: Streatham Hill low traffic neighbourhood to be up and running mid August

Denward - I had assumed you were making a valid point about about 34.9 % of Wandsworth residents having mobility issues and having great difficulty in walking. It is now clear you made that up to try and make a point, but have been called out. Usually with reasonable and intelligent folks that would...

Re: Streatham Hill low traffic neighbourhood to be up and running mid August

Hi Denward,

The report/link does not back up your claim whether it is 34 or 34.9% - it does not even mention Wandsworth or great difficulty in walking.
Could you please clarify as you were using this figure to validate a point ?
thanks

Re: Streatham Hill low traffic neighbourhood to be up and running mid August

Denward - You state “38% of people in Wandsworth have mobility issues and great difficulty walking” I cannot see this in the report you attached.
Could  you find a link and share as interested to see the facts around this.

Re: Streatham Hill low traffic neighbourhood to be up and running mid August

The whole point of these schemes is to force vehicles off the roads and reduce the total number of cars journeys.  There may as a result be a short term increase in pollution on main roads, but also a drop in overall pollution in surrounding areas where cars are now discouraged. This will further en...

Re: Streatham Hill low traffic neighbourhood to be up and running mid August

Air pollution is the biggest environmental threat to health in the UK, with between 28,000 and 36,000 deaths a year attributed to long-term exposure. There is strong evidence that air pollution causes the development of coronary heart disease, stroke, respiratory disease and lung cancer, and exacerb...

Re: Streatham Hill low traffic neighbourhood to be up and running mid August

The best way to improve the access of emergency vehicles throughout London is to reduce the number of other motor vehicles on roads. How do you achieve this ? Make people think as to whether they need to drive - most do not. Only way to reduce pollution in London is to reduce the number of motor veh...

Re: Emanuel School

@bookmummy
Could you clarify what the “huge concern for the wider community and pupils of other local schools,” actually is?

Assume you have children at the school so best course of action is to talk to the school and if still unhappy move them.

Re: How big is the academic gap between Honeywell and Newton Prep?

@ionaB. National curriculum is a basis and is built to be accessible by all children. There will be children at all schools who are ahead of curriculum, those working at it and those struggling to keep up. Most good teachers can easily support this. If your child is academic they will with your supp...

Re: How big is the academic gap between Honeywell and Newton Prep?

Know both schools well. There is definitely no academic gap. Really there is no academic race, except in our bubble. Secondary school starts at 11, GCSEs at 16, A levels at 18, for the academic, and then possibly University. Most important thing is that children are happy and enjoy their childhood. ...

Re: A Level results for Nappy Valley Schools.

Well done to all our young people. Let’s hope they all got what they needed or get the courses they want through clearing.
In particular the first set of results from Bolingbroke are outstanding for a non selective state schools. Just brilliant and a real option for all our children.

Re: Dangerous junction outside Chestnut Grove Academy, Balham

If you want very little to change then leave the council and TfL to it. Their priority will be car drivers. If you want to get something done you will need to follow the lead of groups like Extinction Rebellion. Positive outcome would be to ban cars / vehicles between 7.30 and 9am and 2.45 and 5pm. ...

Re: Wilson's vs Tiffin

@ rumourmill or is it @ fakenews Couple of simple clarifications. The intake of Wilson’s and tiffins is dominated by middle class parents with many of the children attending private primary schools. All will have employed private tutors. Both schools are harder to get into academically than the priv...
