It's called Pizza da Valter . I liked Franca man a until about a year ago. Service became surly, they took a lot of toppings off the menu and the ones they did have were so scarce you could play "spot the topping". The wine must have been kept by the ovens because it was always too warm. One night I asked if they could put it in a wine bucket with some ice to cool it down, the waitress begrudgingly came with 3 ice cubes and an inch of water. When I explained that it wouldn't help and we needed more , she said " this is an inexpensive restaurant you shouldn't expect more!" . I wasn't asking for Baccarat wine glasses but I do expect wine to be served close or at the correct temperature. Never will go back.

It's called Pizza Valter, I think this is the website but not functional: http://www.pizzadavalter.co.uk/

We've just tried and not that impressed with the food (did not have the pizzas though), but staff were very nice.

What’s the name? Does it have a website?

Is it real Neapolitan pizza or “Anglosaxon” pizza? The real pizza is like that of Franco Manca, i.e. wit a very thin, neither crispy nor crunchy, base.

Totally agree re Pizza Express. Now my kids have adult food a family meal is getting on for £100. Given the food is factory made and just heated up there it's daylight robbery.

Great pizzas and only about £8 - up there with Franco manca as sensibly priced great pizzas.

pizza express have lost the plot wanting £13 for most of their pizzas now, who would go there if not using one of the nectar/tastecard / clubcard offers.

Yes, and it is very good indeed.
The staff are also lovely and pulling out all the stops to get the business launched. Well worth a visit.

Franco Manca, along with The Real Greek and a couple of one off restaurants, is owned by The Fulham Shore which is a listed plc. If you want you can go and buy shares in it yourself. Giuseppe Mascoli, the founder of Franco Manca, currently owns 5% of the shares.

Hedge funds don't invest in restaurant chains. That's private equity.

Yep, I'm veggie too! I do love Italian food, but make it all the time at home, so usually want something different when I go out. Plus I enjoyed tasting all the sherries at Rosita.

Interesting - we only went to Franco Manca once and didn't like it so haven't gone back. I thought Made in Italy was quite good, if you like pizzas. But really we loved Rosita - such a shame.

Me too Dudette, especially since Italian is the main kind of food I cook at home. I think we are already well catered for in the Italian food area - franco manca is the best in my opinion despite the original guy having sold out to a hedge fund.

Oh yes, thanks! Being a vegetarian I always end up having to have either pasta or pizza (or risotto if I'm lucky) in Italians. It gets very dull after a while.
