Husband secretive about salary? “Stranger danger” from talking doll. Council parking surplus.

Last Updated on : 12th December 2016

Dear NappyValleyNetter,

I’m currently living through the “battle of the batteries”.

Every Friday evening my son steals the rechargeables from Mr NVN’s bathroom radio to put in his game controllers.

And every Monday morning my husband huffs grumpily around the house hunting them down, so he can decant them back.

It’s now got to the stage where both husband and son are playing hide and seek with their own gadgets, so the other can’t find them.

And last week we reached a new low.

Mr NVN claimed he had found an “amazing” hiding place for his radio which even “Sherlock Holmes” couldn’t detect.

But on Monday morning the radio was mysteriously back on it’s usual bathroom shelf with a note taped to the front…

“Dear Daddy, I’ve got the batteries. They’re now in my moneybox safe. If you try to break-in it won’t hold out for ever, but probably long enough to make you late for work. You’ve lost. Buy more batteries. Love your son”

So that’ll be rechargeables on everyone’s Xmas list.

Here is what you’ve been discussing this week about on NappyValleyNet:

An electronic doll, which is appearing on many Christmas lists, can be “hacked”and the BBC are warning it can expose children to “Stranger Danger”. I honestly thought this was an urban myth but it does check out (click here).
