The girls welcomed the new range of books with a celebratory assembly where they all chose their favourite Carnegie book and came dressed as their favourite character.
The Putney based school will now stock all the appropriate titles in its already wonderful Key Stage Two Library as part of a collaboration with Kew Books.
The Carnegie Medal has been awarded every year since 1936 to the book voted the best children’s book of the year by children’s librarians. The winners have included classics by Arthur Ransome, author of Swallows and Amazons, Eve Garnett – The Family From One End Street, David Almond – Skellig, Phillip Pullman – His Dark Materials, and more recently, Patrick Ness – A Monster Calls.
Headmistress at the school, Sophia Ashworth Jones commented: “The girls feel very proud and lucky to have this new collection of wonderful stories and we are all excited to offer them a more extensive library.”
If you want your daughter to grab a book and join in with the other veracious readers as part of the Falcons Family, then do get in touch with the school’s Registrar Mrs Hutton, on Georgia.Hutton@falconsgirls.co.uk.
