Ravenstone School - Superb Learning Environment

With heavy hearts we are leaving London for good and saying goodbye to Ravenstone School. For anyone considering it may I say that leaving this school is one of the most difficult things that I have done. It is heartbreaking. The staff, teachers, head, parents and children are all pretty much 100% f...

Re: Experience of Ravenstone or Trinity St Marys?

We have 2 x children at Ravenstone and whilst we had considered private we are now very very happy with Ravenstone. The new head is a force of nature and extremely focussed and hard working. Mr dynamic he really is. There are a number of great schools and some not so great in our area but to me at l...

Re: IFA recommendations?

This is not an IFA but a fund that I may have used and/or use but check out Fundsmith Accumulator. That has very a brilliant performance over the last 5 yrs and will almost certainly have beaten anything the IFA suggests. Why not use it as a yardstick even if you are not willing to go there.

Re: Rutherford House or Fircroft or Ravenstone

Brilliant! Seems to reflect the views of many parents. The school seems to be motoring now. I would love another Ofsted in a year. I bet that it will be outstanding soon.

Re: Any boiler recommendations please???

We have a Valliant (old one) and Tim Mycroft services it. His service is keenly priced and is brilliant just brilliant. Ask him if I were you. I trust him and from me that is something.

Re: Rutherford House or Fircroft or Ravenstone

I have 2 at Ravenstone and I can recommend it. In fact despite my initial reservations I now love it. My sister and mother are both heads and I asked them to look at the last Ofsted report and interpret it into English for me. I am a lawyer not a teacher. The report was not 'bad' just not outstandin...

Automatic Gate - Electric Gate

Hi I have a broken automatic gate. Having been through few people in the past I am bringing to believe that they fall into two categories either (1) cheap, useless and very unreliable or (2) massively expensive, crooked and useless. Has anyone got any experience of anyone who is reasonably priced an...

Re: Crossrail 2 to come via Balham?

Your comments are not true and mere opinion. You are not the oracle on this even though you think that you are. 1. there is a LOT of statistical evidence that says that in the vicinity of the station houses lose value dramatically and those that gain will be at the end of the line outside of London....

Re: Crossrail 2 to come via Balham?

charmed I am sure. Why not discuss it sensibly rather than chuck silly comments about. Try to be nice. 1. There is nothing wrong with being a nimby at all. Nimby is a pejorative term but also a dumb and meaningless one. Why should I not be against something which I think will be a massive negative t...

Re: Crossrail 2 to come via Balham?

it seems madness for Balham to sacrifice itself and be destroyed for many years just in order to help commuters from elsewhere. Our commute will be swamped even more by those other commuters changing here in order to get on the Northern Line, we lose Waitrose and probably get horrendous and deeply d...

Re: CROSSRAIL 2 VENTILATION SHAFT (AGAIN)

Hi

May I ask if this is a campaign limited solely to W common or to avoid the Balham route altogether please? I ask because if the latter then I would find it altogether more attractive. Good luck in any event.

Thanks

Re: CROSSRAIL 2 VENTILATION SHAFT (AGAIN)

Please do not call me narrow minded. i do not think that i am. Can you stop the personal attacks please and can we discuss this nicely. Those are I am finding the rules on this site. 1. Someone has noted that Crossrail will make the Northern line more crowded. People will come in from outside London...
