“But we got our own back!”
New Year’s Eve was spent locally with friends and although it was a relatively late finish Mr NappyValleyNet and I were pretty well behaved.
Which is more than can be said for my children and their cousins.
Our babysitter was wonderful but he was a little stricter than some of the more maternal on our rosta and my youngest took umbrage to being sent to bed before Big Ben’s chimes.
“But I promise we deleted all the dating profiles we created for him before he went home,” explained my daughter.
Which explains, as we paid, why he mentioned his email had just been hacked.
So in addition to bed times and late-night snack preferences, our babysitter briefings will now have to include a section on cybersecurity if they’re not to end up plastered across PlentyofFish, Match, ChristianMingle…
Here is what you’ve been discussing this week about on NappyValleyNet:
We may have just had the season of giving but it’s also the season of taking if these photographs are anything to go by. A Balham restaurant and a Southside burger bar were both burgled and if you can help identify the suspects you’d be giving our community a lovely belated Christmas present (click here).
Now this is more like it! Runningmummy is giving away FREE a brand new top quality glass shower screen. She’s a long time user of NVN and this is genuine! Thanks RM! (click here).
Did all your children’s presents come from Santa? And if so does it make thanking gift-givers a little complicated, asks Seb? I think this thread will run and run! (click here)
MJEL asks if it’s in poor taste to include a link to a gift list on a baby shower invite? Hmm we seem to be getting some strong opinions here! (click here).
If you think CrossRail 2 has been a little quiet well we now have an update. Thanks to “Save Our Balham” for posting! (click here)
LL is weight loss resistant and would love your advice on how to shift “the last two stone.”? (click here). Thank you for all of your helpful suggestions – a very popular thread!
BWM urgently needed an employment lawyer over the festive holiday. Delighted we could help! (click here).
Are holiday companies within their rights to levy currency surcharges? And if they do, does it ever go the other way if the pound rises, asks JB? (click here)
The new Italian on Hildreth street gets GREAT write ups. Apart from their music. The music REALLY doesn’t work. Surely they’re not playing Joe Dolce??? (click here).
Jane Wake is calling all pregnant ladies! If you would like to hear more about pregnancy and exercise, pelvic floor issues, reducing pregnancy related pain and what to do now to ensure your tummy comes back then you should click here. Thanks for posting Jane!
We’re entering “exam season”, that long stretch that starts with the 11+ in a week or so and finishes with GCSEs in June. Our friends at JK Educate have just published an extremely useful article to help you navigate the months ahead with minimum exam anxiety. Thanks JK!
The Bowling Green Cafe lease is still available – but what will happen to their outdoor toys, some of you have asked? (click here)
BB is hoping to find a great venue for a 40th? Any ideas gratefully received!? (click here).
It’s no secret that the property market has been going through an interesting time over the second half of 2016. Our friends at Hamptons International have just published their December market update and Portico have released their “Where to Buy in 2017?” Guide. Thank you both!
We have more “House and Garden” questions than the New Year has resolutions!
Round House Design have published their “Top Tips for Buying a Bespoke Kitchen” – thank you! ALWH is looking for someone to do a small sash window repair (click here). DaisyDaisy is having her living rooms carpeted and wonders what should she put between the tiling on the floor in front of the fireplace and the carpet? (click here). Camion14 is currently considering options for their under hallway cellar in a Victorian terraced house: small works, medium works or massive works? (click here). MB wonders if you can recommend a carpet store? (click here). MT is rewiring a house – do you have any tips? (click here). Lastly, NB has a LOT of foxes in her backgarden – can you help her get rid of them? (click here)
